RB Leipzig has signed the second player from the New York Red Bull affiliate after Tyler Adams. The 18-year-old attacking midfielder Caden Clark signed a three-year contract until 2024 in Leipzig, but will be loaned directly back to New York. Clark trained with FC Barcelona, among others, and made his mark in the first team of the New York Red Bulls in the US professional league MLS last season.

Head scout Vivell: "Clark has huge potential"

Technical Director Christopher Vivell said in a statement, "Caden Clark has fantastic skills and enormous potential. He can play anywhere across attacking midfield and is incredibly adaptable in his playing style. As well as that, he is a scoring threat, has great passing quality and strikes the ball well, allowing him to score goals from range. These skills make him a perfect fit for our playing philosophy."

Florian Scholz, Leipzig's commercial director sport, said: "We decided that a loan back would allow Caden, at just 18 years old, a whole season in the MLS before he joins us here at Leipzig." The aspiring club, second in the Bundesliga behind Bayern Munich past season, will be coached by American Jesse Marsch next campaign.

Fourth new arrival at RB Leipzig

Clark is the fourth new arrival in this transfer window. Leipzig had previously signed defenders Josko Gvardiol (Dinamo Zagreb), Mohamed Simakan (Racing Strasbourg) and striker Brian Brobbey (Ajax Amsterdam). The club also exercised a loan to buy option on Defenders Angeliño (Manchester City) and Benjamin Henrichs (AS Monaco).
